President Trump’s new social media platform Truth Social is officially up and running.

Bloomberg has reported that Trump’s new Social media platform Truth Social has been the number one downloaded app on the Apple store.

Truth Social has seen a surge of downloads after the social media app has resolved its technical difficulties.

Twitter which has just had a change of ownership is right now at the number two spot.

Fast & Company added these details:

While Elon Musk was making his bid for Twitter, another social media app has quietly moved to the top of the App Store rankings: Truth Social, the platform launched by former president Donald Trump after he received a permanent ban from Twitter for his role in inciting the January 6, 2021, insurrection.

Among the top free iPhone apps available on the App Store, Truth Social has been seeing the most installs overall on the U.S. App Store today. (Twitter is No. 2.) According to Mobile Insights Strategist Stephanie Chan of SensorTower, a mobile analytics firm, Truth was at No. 52 as of Sunday—and Twitter was ranked at No. 39.

The sudden increase of downloads for Truth Social likely has something to do with the resolution of the platform’s technical issues. Although Truth Social launched in February 2022, users had been reporting long waitlists until very recently. On Friday, the company’s CEO, former congressman Devin Nunes, announced that the waitlists had been cleared after the site moved to a new cloud provider, Rumble.

Forbes covered the story too:

President Donald Trump’s social media network Truth Social was the most downloaded free iPhone app in the App Store on Tuesday, with Twitter close behind at No. 2 a day after the company’s board agreed to be acquired by Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk for $44 billion.

On Monday, before the deal was announced, Truth Social was ranked 52nd and Twitter was in 39th place on the download chart.

Downloads of Truth Social rose to 75,000 for the week of April 18 to 25, up 150% from the week before, according to data from Sensor Tower, a company that monitors mobile apps metrics and has tracked the launch of Trump’s social media site.

Shares of Digital World Acquisition Corp. (DWAC), the special purpose acquisition company that plans to merge with Truth Social, were up 3% to $36.81 Tuesday afternoon after plummeting Monday morning following reports Twitter would accept Musk’s buyout.
