U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart has ordered the Department of Justice to release a redacted version of the affidavit used to justify the raid of Mar-A-Lago.

It is set to be released tomorrow at noon.

Conservative Brief:

Mere hours after the Department of Justice submitted its redacted version of the affidavit the judge ordered it to be released with the redactions, CNN reported.

The document is to be given to media sources by noon on Friday.

The affidavit lays out why investigators believe there was probable cause that crimes had been committed. The warrant authorized the FBI to search former President Donald Trump’s home and private club earlier this month.

The judge claimed that the DOJ showed him “a compelling reason” to keep portions of the affidavit from the public.

Fox News reported:

Reinhart said that after reviewing the Justice Department’s redaction, the government “has met its burden of showing a compelling reason” and “good cause to seal portions of the Affidavit,” saying the disclosure would reveal “the identities of witnesses, law enforcement agents, and uncharged parties,” the investigation’s “strategy, direction, scope, sources and methods” and “grand jury information” protected by federal rules.

Reinhart said that after reviewing the affidavit with redactions, he has determined that the Justice Department “has met its burden of showing that its proposed redactions are narrowly tailored to serve the Government’s legitimate interest in the integrity of the ongoing investigation and are the least onerous alternative to sealing the entire Affidavit.”

Trump wanted the unredacted version to be released.

Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich wrote:

Pres. Trump has made his view clear that the American people should be permitted to see the unredacted affidavit related to the raid and break-in of his home. Today, magistrate Judge Reinhard rejected the DOJ’s cynical attempt to hide the whole affidavit from Americans…However, no redactions should be necessary and the whole affidavit should be released, given the Democrats’ penchant for using redactions to hide government corruption, just like they did with the Russia hoax.
