After over a decade, George Bush still has Iraq on his mind.
During a recent event in Dallas, Bush in reference to the Russia-Ukraine war was quoted saying “there is an absence of checks and balances in Russia, and the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq”.
He quickly realized his mistake and blamed the blunder on his old age.

Former U.S. President George W. Bush mistakenly described the invasion of Iraq as “brutal” and “unjustified” before correcting himself to say he meant to refer to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Bush made the comments in a speech during an event in Dallas on Wednesday, while he was criticizing Russia’s political system.
“The result is an absence of checks and balances in Russia, and the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq,” Bush said, before correcting himself and shaking his head. “I mean, of Ukraine.”
He jokingly blamed the mistake on his age as the audience burst into laughter.

Putin never brutally invaded Iraq but rather it was Bush who invaded Iraq on false claims that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

“In contrast, Russian elections are rigged,” he said. “Political opponents are imprisoned or otherwise eliminated from participating in the electoral process. The result is an absence of checks and balances in Russia and the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq. I mean of Ukraine.”
Bush shrugged and said, under his breath, “Iraq, too.” Russia has not invaded Iraq, and the Kremlin reportedly gave Saddam Hussein’s government intelligence to combat the U.S. invasion early on.
